Allen is an expert marksman, avid outdoorsman and hunter, and a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. Early in his military career, Allen served in the Artillery Division, and later, as an Army JAG attorney who defended and prosecuted criminal defendants around the world, in and outside of war zones, on and off the battlefield. As the Deputy Director of the Army’s Criminal Law Division, Allen was recognized as the Army’s subject matter expert on criminal law. For his service to his country, Allen received prestigious awards, including the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (five times), the Army Commendation Medal (twice), the Saudi Arabian Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Southwest Asia Service Medal.
Immediately prior to joining Firearms Legal Protection, LLC as the Director of Legal Operations, Allen worked as a felony prosecutor for the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, where he tried felony and misdemeanor criminal cases, including capital murder. Throughout his thirty-year legal career, Allen has prosecuted and defended individuals both in civil and criminal courts, and has supervised trial and appellate attorneys in courts throughout the country.
Having defended freedom and our constitutional rights outside the United States in democratic and non-democratic countries, Allen appreciates the extreme importance of protecting American’s constitutional rights, and particularly each person’s right to possess and own firearms. He has seen first-hand that such rights are essential to preserving freedom and our democratic way of life. He has witnessed foreign populations rendered helpless and unable to defend themselves by laws denying the citizens the basic right to possess firearms. As the Director of Legal Operations, Allen is committed to working diligently to ensure that our legislature and judges make law consistent with the Constitution and supportive of Americans’ right to bear firearms.
Allen attended Saint John’s University on a four-year Army Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. After graduating from Gonzaga University School of Law, Allen became a member of the Texas Bar Association. Allen subsequently became a member of the California Bar Association. Allen is a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar.
